New Position of Bioinformatician in RATION, univ. Thessaly
University of Thessaly is offering a position in bioinformatics with expected commencement June 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is offered in the frame of the project RATION, an HORIZON Europe project (Risk Assessment Innovation of Low Risk Pesticides). It is a 4-year project which has stared at 1.11.2022.

The coordinator Dr Dimitrios Karpouzas presented RATION to the members of the Hellenic Crop Protection Association in Athens on 12 May 2023. Dr Karpouzas had the chance to present the main goals of RATION and the tools that aims to develop to facilitate the more efficient reach of Low-Risk Pesticides in the EU market. The members of HCPA were particularly interested in microbial pesticides, botanicals and pheromones and their registration process at member-state level and discussed further the high specificity of ds-RNA pesticides and their perception by the EU regulatory system.

On the 23rd of March 2023 the first workshop of the Stakeholders Forum of RATION was launched. The workshop was organized remotely with the participation of over 70 people including 50 members of the Stakeholders Forum and 20 representatives-members of the RATION project network. In the frame of the workshop the Coordinator Prof. Dimitrios Karpouzas presented the overall vision of RATION and of the objectives of the Stakeholders Forum.

On the 2nd of March the Coordinator of RATION Prof. D. Karpouzas presented the vision of RATION to the 7th Meeting of the Expert Group on BioPesticides (EGBP) in the OECD headquarters in Paris. RATION and its members will also offered to contribute to the several actions of the EGBP supported by OECD.
