Hands-on training on Whole Genome Sequencing analysis of microbial pesticides for Environmental Risk Assessment – Brussels 9 October 2026
RATION is organizing the third training workshop with a focus on hand-on training on the the WGS platform that has been developed in the frame of the project. The WGS pipeline developed could analyse the genomes of bacteria and fungi used as plant protection products and provide outputs that could be used as a first tier to direct testing strategy for hazard assesment. The workshop will be organized at the 9th of October 2026, a day after the final dissemination event of RATION, in the Palace of the Academies, Room Bordet, Rue Ducale 1 / Hertogstraat 1, 1000 Brussels. Our trainers will be
- Dr Brader Gunter, Austrian Institute of Technology
- Dr Joao Saraiva, UFZ, Leipzig
- Dr Sotirios Vasileiadis and Sotirina Makri, University of Thessaly, Greece
- Valerian Lupo, UC Louvain, Belgium
There are 20 slots available for this training so please register here.
The Final Dissemination Event of RATION – Brussels, 8 October 2026
The final dissemination event of RATION will be held in Brussels, at October 8, 2026 in the Palace of the Academies, Auditorium Albert II. The event will be open to scientists from academia, regulatory bodies, industry, NGOs and other stakeholders dealing with the development and use of low-risk pesticides of biological origin. The researchers of RATION will present the new Risk Assessment scheme developed for low-risk pesticides of biological origin along with tools and methods to support their implementation. The agenda of the event is available here.

RATION Summer School, Larissa 25-29 May 2026
The summer school of RATION was organized by the University of Thessaly in Larissa, Greece on the week 25 to 29 May 2026. The school was attended by 15 people which had the opportunity to hear and get training on the new tools developed by RATION on the risk assessment of microbials, botanicals, pheromones and ds-RNA.

The Webinar Series of RATION is launched
The project RATION is organizing a webinar series where the results of the project will be presented to the members of the stakeholders’ forum and openly to other scientists from regulatory bodies, industries, consultants and academia. The webinars will be organized every 15 days at 13.00 pm and will involve presentation of the results by one of the Principal Investigators of the project followed by Q/A session. The webinars will be recorded and uploaded in the Stakeholder Forum portal where people could watch them.
