Stephan Declerck

Dr. Stéphane Declerck is Full Professor, responsible of the laboratory of mycology of the Earth and Life Institute in the Faculty of Bioengineers and director of BCCM/MUCL. He studied Bioengineer at the UCLouvain, and obtained a PhD in the laboratory of phytonique of the Université of Angers (France). His research group comprise 32 staff members (3 senior scientists, 5 postdoctoral researchers, 12 PhD students, 10 technicians, 1 secretary and 1 quality responsible) working on the mycothèque of UCLouvain, the Glomeromycota In vitro COllection – GINCO, and the Center of Study of AM Monoxenics – CESAMM. Since the start of his career, Stéphane Declerck was coordinator, participant or WP leader in over 75 national and international projects of fundamental and applied research (including STD, FP5, FP6, FP7, Horizon 2020, Marie Curie ESR, Marie Curie IF, Marie Curie ITN, COST actions, Région wallonne – Direction Générale de l’Agriculture, CUD, FEDER, FNRS, BELSPO, UCL, research fund). He participated in 23 EU projects among which 9 as coordinator. These include 5 Marie Curie ESR or ITN (2 as coordinator) and 3 IF (REMEDIAM, SYMBIO-INC, MYCupscaling). He published 152 research papers, 12 book chapters and edited 1 book (citations 4100, H-index: 36). Stéphane Declerck owns the patent WO/2009/090220: Method and system for in vitro mass production of AMF, which demonstrates the entrepreneurial potential of his lab.
