Jeroen is Dutch and living in Wageningen, the Netherlands.

Jeroen has more than 30 years’ experience in the field of regulatory affairs in the crop protection sector. After he had finished his study plant pathology at the Wageningen University & Research (WUR) Jeroen has been involved in a number of regulatory functions at the national level in the Netherlands as well as at EU and global levels.

Jeroen has worked from 1987 until 2010 as EU coordination plant protection at the Ctgb (Board for the Authorisation of Plant protection products and Biocides) in the Netherlands. Initially, he was coordinating the European active substance work under Directive 91/414/EEC but this was superseded by the work on the implementation of Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009.

From 2010 until 2015 Jeroen has worked as a national expert for the European Commission at DG SANTE, responsible for various aspects of pesticide policy, including minor uses and biopesticides. At that time Jeroen was project leader for the development of technical guidance documents as regards biopesticides and to review the criteria for 'low risk' active substances.

From 2015 until 2020 he held the post of Coordinator in the EU Minor Uses Coordination Facility and was based in Paris. Main activities were coordinating and supporting the minor uses work amongst all Member States and stakeholders as well as enhancing the European Minor Uses Database EUMUDA.

In September 2020 Jeroen has joined the consultancy company ERM as Technical Director Regulatory Affairs. ERM (Environmental Resources Management) is a leading global provider of environmental, health, safety, risk, social consulting services and sustainability related services. Biological control is one of Jeroen’s responsibilities at ERM.

In the framework of the OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development) Jeroen has chaired the OECD Expert Group on Biopesticides from 2005 until 2020. In this capacity Jeroen has been responsible for the organisation of meetings, workshops and a series of seminars resulting in a number of publications in the OECD Series on Pesticides. Jeroen will support the RATION project as a regulatory specialist on behalf of IBMA, the International Biocontrol Manufacturers Association.
