Setting the scene for a new risk assessment scheme for LRP in Europe

Leader: Wageningen University – Prof. Justus Wesseler

Duration: M1-M24

Main Objective: to gather fragmented knowledge regarding the status of LRP in the EU market, setting the scene for the development of a new RA scheme for LRP at EU level

Tasks:

Task 1.1. Establishment of the Stakeholders Forum (Task Leader: UTH, Deputy Leader: EQY)

Task 1.2: Development and distribution of questionnaires to national authorities in charge of PPPs approval (Task Leader: IBMA, Deputy Leader: INIA)

Task 1.3: Review of current risk assessment procedures per group (Task Leader: SYNGENTA, Deputy Leader: ECT)

Task 1.4: Synthesis of the challenges for regulation of LRP (Task Leader WU, Deputy Leader: INRAE)

WP2

Risk assessment for Microbial pesticides and microbiome solutions

Leader: Austrian Institute of Technology – Günter Brader

Duration: M4-M48

Objective: to develop and provide a first validation of methods, protocols and guidance towards the development of an improved RA for microbial pesticides, including microbiome solutions

Tasks:

Task 2.1: Development of guidance for assessing the pathogenicity / infectivity of microbial pesticides to humans and mammals (UTH/WU-TOX)

Task 2.2: Ecotoxicological assessment of microbial pesticides (SYNGENTA/UFZ)

Task 2.3: Development of recommendations for assessing the risk associated with the production of microbial metabolites and dispersal of AMR traits (AIT/SYNGENTA)

Task 2.4: New RA for microbial pesticides – proof of concept (INIA/UTH)

Task 2.5: Development of guidance supporting the RA of new microbiome solutions, new microbials and new application approaches (AIT/UCL)

WP3

Risk Assessment for plant extracts, semiochemicals, and pheromones

Leader: Metabolic Insights – Dr Ofir Ramot

Duration: M4-M48

Objective: to generate a new robust and scientifically sound RA framework for plant extracts (including pure bioactive plant metabolites), semiochemicals and pheromones

Tasks:

Task 3.1: Hazard identification and characterization of plant extracts (MI/WI)

Task 3.2: Hazard identification and characterization of semiochemicals and pheromones (CBC/BIOBEST)

Task 3.3: Exposure assessment for plant extracts and semiochemicals like pheromones (AEIFORIA/IUNG)

Task 3.4: New RA scheme for plant extracts, semiochemicals and pheromones and proof-of-concept (INIA/MI)

Risk assessment for dsRNA pesticides

WP Leader: Julius-Kunh Institute – Dr Khalid Amari

Duration: M6-M48

Objective: to develop a novel RA approach which will address the particular needs of emerging ds-RNA pesticides

Tasks:

Task 4.1: Hazard identification for ds-RNA pesticides (JKI/FORTH)

Task 4.2: Hazard characterization of ds-RNA pesticides (JKI/BAYER)

Task 4.3: Environmental exposure and fate of ds-RNA (HAO/BAYER)

Task 4.4: Establishment of a risk assessment scheme for dsRNA pesticides and proof-of-concept (JKI/BAYER)

WP5

Harmonized risk assessment for LRPs and assessment of associated socioeconomic impacts

WP Leader: INRAE – Dr Stephane Marette

Duration: M20-M48

Objective: to produce a collective and harmonized RA for LRP (O6) and eventually to determine and analyse the socio-economic and market impact of its implementation at the EU level and beyond

Tasks:

Task 5.1: Development of a collective and harmonized RA for LRPs  (ECT/WU)

Task 5.2: Consumer impact assessment of proposed changes (INRAE/WU-AEP)

Task 5.3: Economic impact assessment of proposed changes (WU-AEP/IBMA)

WP6

Dissemination, Communication and Exploitation of project findings

WP Leader:  Euroquality  – B. Maillard

Duration: M1-M48

Objective: to develop and implement an effective, Dissemination, Communication and results Exploitation Plan (DcrE) that (i) will raise public awareness, (ii) mobilize capacities of relevant actors (iii) ensure an efficient exploitation of project results

Tasks:

Task 6.1. Website, social media and visual identity (EQY/UTH)

Task 6.2. Development and Implementation of the Dissemination, Communication and results Exploitation strategic plan (EQY/IBMA)
