ECT is contract research organisation (CRO) providing ecotoxicological services and consultancy for industry and governmental authorities. As testing facility certified according to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) since 1994, ECT has laboratory space of more than 1000 m², including an isotope laboratory. The core services that ECT provides are laboratory and field studies with aquatic, terrestrial, benthic and dung organisms according to relevant OECD and ISO guidelines and conducted under GLP. These studies are used for risk assessments in the market authorisation process of a wide range of chemicals, including low risk pesticides. ECT has many years of experience in developing and standardising ecotoxicological test methods.

Within RATION, ECT will contribute by (co)leading tasks in WP1 and WP5, which are dedicated to risk assessment schemes, and by conducting ecotoxicological testing in other work packages.
