The National Center for Agricultural and Food Research and Technology (INIA-CSIC) is a public research body that belongs to the State Agency of the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation. INIA-CSIC carries out the functions of research and scientific-technical support in the field of agri-food research and gives support for the agricultural and food policy of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, and the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge as support in the evaluation of environmental risks derived from both chemical and biological agents, including genetically modified organisms.
Researchers of the Plant Protection Department of INIA-CSIC from the phytopathogenic fungi research group and from the plant protection products unit participate in RATION project. In the Department, research is carried out to optimize the control of pests, diseases and weeds, through the application of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) within the regulatory framework defined by Regulation (EC) 1107/2009 and Directive 2009/128/ CE for a sustainable use of pesticides, with special attention to the environment, biodiversity and the optimization of resources.
